Meerut Murder: According to police department sources, Sahil Shukla, one of the two suspects in the murder of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput, gambled with the victim’s money. They claimed that he used to wager on cricket matches and that he and Muskan Rastogi, the other accused and Saurabh’s wife, lived a lavish lifestyle thanks to the winnings
The sources claim that Sahil used bookmakers, whose names are presently being investigated, to place his wagers. According to reports, he used the money he won to pay for his vacations with Muskan to Rishikesh and Dehradun. According to Sahil’s neighbors, he didn’t have a steady work and depended largely on his earnings from gambling to support himself
Police sources claim that Saurabh also transferred Muskan about ₹1 lakh per month for her and their daughter. Muskan would notify Sahil whenever these payments were moved to her account, and Sahil would utilize the money to wager on cricket matches. Prior to his arrest and subsequent incarceration, Sahil had been betting on Indian Premier League matches for years and was planning to place additional bets on the forthcoming season, according to the police
According to Ayush Vikram Singh, superintendent of police (City), Saurabh frequently wired money to Muskan to cover her expenditures while she was employed in London. He had transferred ₹1 lakh to her account just prior to his murder. According to the official, the police are currently looking into Sahil’s gaming habits more thoroughly and want to use this data when they examine him while he is being held on remand
Following interviews with Sahil and Muskan, who admitted to plotting Saurabh’s murder as early as November of last year, the murder plot itself was revealed. They revealed information on the objects they collected for the crime and their sources
Nine people, including four store owners, a doctor, a pharmacy, a taxi driver, a tenant, and an account holder who received money transfers, have been identified by police as part of the ongoing investigation. The mother of Saurabh Rajput, who was slain by his wife Muskan Rastogi and her alleged lover Sahil Shukla, has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to look into the matter thoroughly and to execute the murderers
In addition, Rajput’s mother insisted on having custody of their granddaughter because she was concerned about her safety. “Justice is what I desire. The death punishment is what I desire for the offenders. I want to urge CM Yogi and PM Modi to conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter and ensure that justice is served. I want to know everything, including the motive behind the murder, whether the probe is conducted by the CBI or the crime branch,” Rajput’s mother, Renu, devastated, said on Saturday
On March 4, Sahil and his wife are accused of killing Saurabh, who was employed in the merchant navy. After being cut, his body was placed in a drum and covered with cement.
According to the mother, they haven’t seen the grandchild since their son was killed. “We would like to see and have our granddaughter.” Rajput’s mother remarked, “If she [Muskan] can kill her husband, what can she not do to the little girl?”
The mother went on to say that when her son visited her on the evening of March 3, she did not hear of any marital or other issues. “He [Saurabh] would have spoken out if there were issues. When he arrived, he wasn’t intoxicated. He promised to return and eat with his wife, but I was upset with him for being late and allowing the food to become cold
Muskan’s parents have also requested that she be executed
“I told Muskan to be honest with me as we were heading to the police station. She admitted to killing her husband together with a buddy. I asked her to be honest when I brought her to the police station. Muskan’s father stated, “The verdict in this case should be rendered quickly, and I don’t want anything less than the death penalty for her. My son-in-law should receive justice.”
